(2011) H23 50 Yen, DCAM PR (1) SP (1967) S42 P50 Yen 見本 SP (2) Days Listed. Uncertified (555) PCGS (7) NGC (13) Sellers. The 50 yen note (五十円紙幣) was a denomination of Japanese yen that was issued from 1872 to 1958 (non-consecutively) in paper form. The first two issues for this denomination are rare for various reasons, including the latter of the two not being released for circulation. 50 sen is the equivalent of half a yen. The half yen banknote features Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain and an active volcano. The 50 sen bill has a red seal and a green colored back side. Do you have a 50 Japanese Sen banknote (0.50 Yen)?
This may be your coin, Bill. It features the large flower in the center with three logograms above and below it on one side, and a large 50 with more logograms above and below on the other side.
It was, however, not struck in aluminum, but in nickel. (If this is not your coin, Bill, you are welcome to submit a new appraisal request, and we'll try again!) It was produced in the 30th through to the 33rd year of the Showa period, which corresponds to 1955-1958 of our calendar. See below for dates:
三å = year 30, 1955
三å一 = year 31, 1956
三åäº?' = year 32, 1957
三å三 = year 33, 1958
The cool pattern of Japanese numerals starts to emerge!
